Wieke Karsten and Henry Kelder celebrate in 2021 their 25th year of friendship. In 2016 they gave their first concert in Groningen where they both were teachers at the conservatory. They released two albums (Doodles in Flight in 2000 and Histoires in 2005) and won the Friedrich Kuhlau Competition in 1998. Wieke is professor of flute at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and is the author of ´In de Muziek´ a book about awareness and a guideline for studying music. Henry is professor of piano at HKU Utrecht Conservatoire.

Doodles in Flight

The works for flute and piano on this album were clearly influenced by jazz; one of the most important new musical styles to develop in the twentieth century. And just as jazz exhibits many diverse currents and developments, each work on Doodles in Flight has been inspired in a different way.
